FUNVIDES is a Colombian non-profit organization that investigates, documents and legally represents victims of the armed conflict, with a focus on kidnapping, enforced disappearance and the victimization of members of the Armed Forces and the National Police and their families.
What we do
Legal representation before the JEP
We represent accredited victims before Colombia’s Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) in six macro-cases: 01, 02, 04, 05, 07 and 10. In Case 01 (hostage-taking and serious deprivation of liberty by the FARC-EP) the JEP recognizes FUNVIDES as common legal representative of victims.
Research and documentation
Between 2018 and 2022 we filed six reports with the JEP’s Chamber for Acknowledgement of Truth, five of them jointly with the Army, the Navy, the Air Force and the National Police. The Tribunal for Peace used the report co-authored with the Colombian Air Force as a source in its first judgment in Case 01 (2025).
Psycho-legal support
Since November 2019 we run a comprehensive psycho-legal support strategy for military and police victims and their families, certified by the Ministry of Defence.
Search for missing persons
We documented, validated and transferred 1,010 cases of missing persons and 1,016 records of relatives to Colombia’s Search Unit for Persons Deemed Missing (UBPD).
Peace education and memory
Our Chair for Peacebuilding trains officers in human rights, international humanitarian law and transitional justice. Under our 2019-2025 partnership with the Colombian Air Force we trained 1,829 service members.
Victims’ participation
FUNVIDES is a recognized victims’ advocacy organization with representatives in local, district and national victims’ participation boards.
International cooperation
FUNVIDES managed, executed and formally closed USD 51,765 in European Union funding through two projects administered by the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), 2019-2021: a small grant for the individual accreditation of 1,000 enforced-disappearance cases before the JEP (USD 37,206, fully approved and closed with no outstanding obligations) and a Data Partnership Agreement (USD 14,559).

Partnerships with the State
- Colombian Aerospace Force: partnership agreement 2019-2025, fully executed over its five-year term and closed by mutual agreement with a certificate of compliance; new agreement No. 001-2026 in force until 2031.
- Truth Commission (CEV): cooperation agreement signed in 2019, executed until the end of the Commission’s mandate.
- Victims’ Unit (UARIV): information-sharing agreement signed in 2021.
